I work with young adults (19-28) and older adults (55+) navigating major life transitions, career changes, identity shifts, and grief. My approach is collaborative, relational, and grounded in both clinical training and lived experience.
Major life transitions like starting college, changing careers, retiring, entering a new relationship phase, or the death of a loved one, are rarely simple. They can be downright overwhelming because they are so multifaceted. They involve endings as well as beginnings. They raise questions about identity and meaning. And they so often involve grief.
I specialize in helping you move through these transitions with intention and clarity. This includes:
Career Transitions & Identity Work
- Exploring whether your current career path is fulfilling
- Navigating the emotional and identity aspects of career change
- Processing the loss of a career identity as you move into a new role
- Career exploration, values clarification, and decision-making support
- Practical support with resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation
Grief & Loss
- Processing grief that comes with major life changes like job loss, retirement, relationship endings, or the death of a loved one
- Honoring what you've lost while finding the courage to move forward
- Understanding how grief shows up in your life and making meaning from it
- Supporting you through significant losses and life changes without trying to fix it
Identity & Self-Understanding
- Exploring who you are and who you're becoming
- Understanding patterns and beliefs that have shaped your choices
- Reconnecting with yourself and your community when you feel lost or disconnected
- Asking bigger existential questions about meaning, purpose, and direction
Life Direction & Clarity
- Clarifying what actually matters to you (vs. what you think should matter)
- Building confidence in your own judgment and intuition
- Making major life decisions with greater intention and alignment
- Navigating life's inevitable uncertainties and the transitions between chapters
In a word, I would say my approach to counseling is relational, but there's more to it than that.
Collaborative & Warm: I will show up authentically, with warmth and compassion. I am genuinely interested in who you are, and committed to creating a safe, collaborative space for your growth.
Reflective & Thoughtful: We'll slow things down and explore what's underneath the surface anxiety and urgency that you're experiencing. We'll explore your social and cultural identities and the meanings behind your experiences, instead of just trying to solve problems. Not all problems can be solved.
Grounded: I've always been practical. I guess that's the scientist in me. So, beyond talk therapy, I can offer concrete tools and support including mindfulness and breathwork practices, career exploration strategies, practical decision-making frameworks, and direct support with career-related documents like resumes and cover letters.
Flexible & Collaborative: We'll determine together what you need. Your goals might shift as we work, and that's okay. What happens in sessions is always driven by what actually serves you.
Integrated & Holistic: I understand the mind-body-spirit connection. Quite intimately, in fact, as spirituality is an important part of my own identity. When it's helpful, we can integrate mindfulness, breathwork, or movement-based practices into our work. In addition, we can also discuss your connection to and experiences of faith, religiosity, or spirituality. You're always in control of the content you bring into our sessions and how you would like to move forward.

During our first appointment, we will review your intake paperwork and have a conversation about what brings you in and what your goals are. I know it can be uncomfortable to share your challenges with a stranger, so I will do my best to make you comfortable. I promise this won't feel like an interrogation (and there will be snacks!).
This first meeting is a chance for us to see if we're a good fit. Counseling works best when there's trust and genuine connection, so it's completely okay if you're wondering whether we'll work well together. That's honestly an important question for both of us to consider. If we're not a good fit, I'll help you find someone who is. You deserve to work with a counselor who can best support you in whatever season of life you're in!
